School History
 
 
Matthew Pearce Public School was occupied in 1982 and is a landmark in the residential area it serves. It occupies a site in surroundings which until recently were rural and quiet. The area is now a busy residential district with many high-quality homes. Originally it was expected that the school would be completed in August, 1981 with the first students expected to start in September. Students mainly came from Jasper Road PS, with some students from Crestwood and Seven Hills North. Jasper Rd was very supportive in the early stages of planning for the school helping with fundraising and administrative matters.
 
Committee meetings of interested parties including the Department of Education and parents in 1981 discussed various issues relating to the new school. It's interesting to note that major issues included:
  1.     concerns about bus travel
  2.     the need for traffic lights at Seven Hills Rd
  3.     extensions to the guardrails on the walkway on the bridge
  4.     the existence of a barbed wire fence running along the footpath to the school
  5.     the bush track developed at the rear of the school by the APEX club of Baulkham Hills and the Local Bush Fire Brigade
  6.     school uniform decisions
  7.     canteen issues
 
The school patron, Mr Jack Elliott, then Inspector for Metropolitan West Region, represented the Department of Education in these early committee meetings. Mr Mick Eccleston was the President of the Matthew Pearce P.S. Parents Committee.
